Fixodent is one of the popular choices of denture adhesives and it has been available for decades. In fact, there are likely millions of individuals that have purchased and used this adhesive to assist them in affixing their dentures on a daily basis. Although GlaxoSmithKline, the makers of Polygrip, have pulled their product from the market and announced that all of their zinc-containing products would be replaced with alternatives free of zinc, the makers of Fixodent have yet to follow suit. In fact, not only has Proctor & Gamble refused to pull their product from the shelves by issuing a recall, but they have yet to provide even a warning to the public regarding the risk of excessive zinc exposure. The even more surprising thing is that Fixodent hasn’t even listed zinc as an ingredient in their product! These deceptive practices and negligence in making the consumer aware may result in countless scores of costly lawsuits for Proctor & Gamble in the future, as no recall means that millions may be continuing to use the product.
