You will have heard the term 'Strobe Light' probably many times, quite often used in the context of emergency vehicles. The Strobe LED may seem a simple kind of light but the technology is actually complex. The modern Strobe LED versions of strobe lights are extremely effective, and the LED lights are now on the market taking the place of older fashioned strobe lights. Emergency vehicles are always associated with strobe lights and that's with good reason. They are very good at what they do and that is to draw attention and highlight or warn.

Strobe LED lights are actually creeping into our homes and places of work, although you hopefully haven't seen or noticed them. The reason you won't have noticed them is they tend to be part of alarm systems, either fire or breach alarm systems have them. If you do see the Strobe LED light on any kind of alarm system then it can only mean one thing, the alarm has been activated and you need to either leave the building or dial 911 because you have an intruder. Wherever you see a Strobe LED flashing there can be no mistaking it as a warning or alarm.

We all recognize the slowly rotating strobe and will associate it with emergencies and hazard warnings. Strobe lights are used in other places where they aren't associated with emergencies or alarms, and you may see them in clubs used as specialist lighting effects. The clubs use strobes with smoke and colour to create an atmosphere that club goers love. Therefore, that is one application of Strobe LED lights that is anything but an emergency.

Some Strobe LED units will be carried in vehicles but not used all of the time, such as for doctors on call or specialist nurses. The strobe will only be used by those kinds of people if they have to respond to an emergency. The single Strobe LED units are very easily seen in all kinds of lighting, even in poor weather and poor light the strobe is highly visible. As a hazard warning the Strobe LED is very effective, that is because it can be seen whatever angle you approach from because it rotates through the full 360 degrees of visibility.

The modern Strobe LED units are more and more popular because they are virtually maintenance free. The LED lights are the most economical to run and create very little drain on a vehicle battery if that is where they are run from. A Strobe LED can be left on for long periods without the danger of the vehicle not starting because the battery has run down. Strobe lights are also incredibly reliable, and that is something that is extremely important to first responders. The Strobe LED is the perfect lighting for a vehicle that needs to warn and inform.
